Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral and Maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from Dental School. As an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Bigelow manages a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, and facial regions. He has an expertise ranging from Dental Implant surgery and wisdom teeth removal to other jaw needs. This includes techniques to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and patient comfort. He can also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries, and fractures.

Our staff is trained in assisting with Intravenous (IV) sedation or outpatient general anesthesia in our state-of-the-art  office setting.  The office has completed and received the Certificate of Office Anesthesia Evaluation required by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Certificate of Commendation from the Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery by an experienced staff. All staff are certified in Basic Life Support (CPR) and many have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Our Staff are informed administrative personnel, well-versed in health and insurance policies.

Uncompromising Safety

Infection control in our office is also very important to us.  To protect our patients and ourselves, we strictly maintain sterilization and cross contamination processes using standards recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
